My Career Boost!

Located at 8044 SE Harold Street, the My Career Boost! program serves justice-involved individuals released from local jails and state prisons. If you are 18 years of age or older, eligible for or are currently receiving SNAP benefits, have been formerly incarcerated and live in Multnomah County, you may qualify for cost-free career services!

About My Career Boost! Services

We’re here to help former justice-involved individuals who receive or are eligible for SNAP to access one-on-one support so they can reach their employment goals. We provide referrals to no-cost education and training resources.

We will assist you with no-cost services to boost your job-finding and job retention success:

  • One-on-one Career Coaching
  • Job Placement Assistance
  • Workshops and one-on-one services (interviewing, resume writing, budgeting, job searches & applications)
  • Community Partner Resource Referrals (to help overcome any work barriers you may face)

Job Readiness Training

Our services are designed to assist people who have experienced incarceration in identifying their personal barriers and build skills which are relevant to being successful in the workplace. Our staff works with individuals to develop a personal work plan, identify goals, and begin training. Job readiness is not training for a specific job, rather it is designed to help individuals develop:

  • Self-confidence
  • Self-awareness
  • Interpersonal relationship skills in the workplace
  • Understanding of competitive employment requirements

Job Development

We help individuals with former justice involvement secure employment by assisting with resume preparation, job-seeking and interviewing skills, and by contacting employers on their behalf.

Placement Services

Our employment specialists provide job-placement services for people with former justice involvement who are work-ready but may require some assistance in obtaining employment. Our staff provides assistance with:

  • Job-seeking skills, such as preparing resumes and completing job applications
  • Job leads
  • Placement assistance
  • Post-employment follow-up

Employment Support

As part of our services, we offer follow-up support to help individuals identify and conquer barriers to maintaining long-term employment. We offer this support for as long as individuals remain on the job or need assistance.

Classes and Workshops

Through WorkSource we offer a variety of classes that cover subjects from basic computer skills, scholarships for cost free training, interpersonal skills and resume workshops. We can deliver material virtually, in a group classroom setting, or one-on-one, depending on individuals’ specific needs or requirements.

We also offer several workshops and one-on-one services to help improve soft skills, build confidence, and increase financial literacy. These one-on-one services, classes and workshops provide people with tools and skills that are essential for success in both personal and professional settings.
